He rejected my kiss in public?

After I went out to lunch with my boyfriend we were standing outside around the corner of the restaurant when I wrapped my arms around him and went in to kiss him he kinda turned to the side and when our lips kinda touched he said "not here stop" he told me he's good with PDA in school but not in public. It was just a simple kiss though, it obviously wasn't going to be anymore. Any thoughts...?
