I just bought A Maverick 88 20 Guage, I was told it holds 8 rounds but its only taking 3, whats wrong?

So I bought a Maverick 88 20 Gauge (MV73295N) I was told it holds 8 rounds but only holds 3. Does anyone know the problem? And what can I do to fix it?
